My dash cam has stopped starting, what should I do?
There could be four reasons why the dash cam has stopped starting:
- Car cigarette lighter malfunction: If the car charger power indicator is not lit, try using a different car to test if the dash cam can function properly.
- Car charger malfunction: Please check if the power indicator of the car charger is consistently lit, and ensure that the plugs on both ends are inserted firmly. If the power indicator is not lit, please contact us to get a replacement car charger.
- SD card malfunction: If both the cigarette lighter and car charger are working fine, but the dash cam still cannot start, remove the SD card and then plug in the dash cam again. If it starts, consider replacing the SD card with a suitable one.
- Dash cam malfunction: If the above three issues are ruled out, please contact us for repair or replacement of the dash cam.
Do I need to keep the dash cam connected to my phone for it to record?
Absolutely not! The dash cam will start recording as soon as you start the car. You can confirm that the dash cam is recording by the flashing indicator light or a blinking dot on the screen. The Wi-Fi feature is primarily convenient for downloading and previewing the recorded videos during your drive.
How long does the battery last after being fully recharged?
All brands of dash cams require continuous power to function properly. The built-in battery is only used to maintain the system time and is not utilized for video recording.
After install the hardwire kit, the dash cam still turn off when parking.
After using the hardwire kit, you can activate two parking modes: Parking Monitor Mode and Time-Lapse Recording Mode. You can only choose one of these two modes. If you set the Time-Lapse Recording Mode, the Parking Monitor Mode will default to off regardless of whether it is enabled.
Here is an introduction to these two modes:
- Parking Monitor Mode
This mode is the traditional dash cam parking protection. When the car engine is turned off, the dash cam will automatically shut down to save power and storage space. However, the gravity sensor will remain active. If the car is shaken, the gravity sensor will activate the dash cam, recording a 30-second evidence video. After recording, the dash cam will shut down again, waiting for the next trigger. The 30-second evidence video will be locked and not participate in loop recording. Of course, in this scenario, if you press the power button, it will also wake up the dash cam. - Time-Lapse Recording Mode
You can imagine, there is a loophole in "Parking Monitor Mode" where the dash cam will only start recording after an impact, so there is no video footage before the impact, which may result in the loss of important information such as faces or license plates, making it difficult for you to claim. Therefore, we have developed Time-Lapse Recording Mode for parking.
After correctly installing the hardwire kit, you need to enter the dash cam system settings and manually enable the Time-Lapse Recording option. After the car engine is turned off, the dash cam will stop normal recording first, and then start Time-Lapse Recording 10 seconds later, the dash cam will continue to record during parking. As the name suggests, during Time-Lapse Recording, the dash cam takes one photo per second, compressing 30 seconds of video into 1 second, similar to fast-forward playback. This not only reduces the power consumption of the dash cam during parking (to prevent the battery from running out too quickly, of course, the hardwire kit can automatically cut off power when the battery voltage is below 12V to ensure that you can start the car), but also saves storage space (otherwise, the video clips recorded by the dash cam during driving will be overwritten within a longer parking recording time).
We hope this is helpful for you. We recommend turning on the Time-Lapse Recording feature to get more comprehensive parking protection.
